The press-service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania informs that on 22nd of April, continuing with working visit to Poland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Vigaudas Ushatskas met the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Poland Radoslavom Sikorski,.
During the meeting V.Ushatskas’s called R.Sikorski for closer cooperation in world policy questions.
Ministers have agreement to to prepare for presidency in OSSE in 2011, thus continuing tradition of solidarity which arisen at the time of Republic of Both Peoples.
«The coordination of agendas of presidency of Lithuania and Poland in 2011 in OSSE and EU could provide that the countries will follow the way of democracy chosen by Europe, in view of expectations of inhabitants. Using this possibility, we can rise the Lithuanian-Polish relations on higher level», – told the head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
Besides, ministers discussed possibilities of more active cooperation in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and discussed how it is better to use the initiative of East partnership for development of relations with Belarus, Ukraine and other countries of the Caucasian region.
On the meeting were discussed prospects of relations with Russia and cooperation in community of democracies. Presidency of Lithuania in this intergovernmental organisation will begin in summer of 2009
V.Ushatskas called R.Sikorsky and other politicians of Poland to support «national diplomacy» and to develop close relations between the Lithuanian and Polish schools, societies, the youth organisations and arrivals.
«Lithuania and Poland are connected by great interests in sphere of a policy, culture, economy and power safety, but the most important link uniting the states are inhabitants of both countries. I am sure that Lithuanians and Poles have a lot that can enrich each other», – told V.Ushatskas.
The head of external Diplomacy of Lithuania offered to departments of Poland in 2010 note together the anniversary of war conflict at Zhalgiris (Grjunvaldsky fight), and invite to take part in ceremony the representatives from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and also representatives of other people who participated in fight.
Lithuania will preside in OSSE in 2011, in the European Union in 2013
Poland will preside in EU in 2011
