Almost 1.5 thousand of « Ice Swimmers » set a new Guinness record in Poland

WARSAW, February 15, Leonid Sviridov. New record for the Guinness Book of Records was set on Sunday in Poland at the international meeting of “Ice Swimmers”, when in the Baltic Sea 1,462 people swam at the same time, Polish media reported.

The record of mass baptismal swim was set in Moscow suburb Ruza.

The previous record was set on January 1, 2009 - in New York when 579 “Ice Swimmers” bathed in the winter the water.

International Gathering of “Ice Swimmers” was held at one of the most famous resorts on Polish part of the Baltic Sea coast Mielno. According to a special protocol of the “swim”, 583 women and 879 men swam in the sea.

At the meeting attended by representatives of 198 localities in Poland, there were also “Ice Swimmers” from Czech Republic and Germany.

The most elderly bathers were 81-year-old Daniel Voynovsky from Gdynia and 71-year-old Zofia Krchuk of Kluczbork.
