Czech Republic and Poland joined the pipelines

Czech Republic and Poland joined their pipelines by a special 32-kilometer gas bridge STORK, the Czech news agency CTK says.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas and the Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk attended the opening ceremony of the bridge in Teshin.

The head of the Czech government said that the gas bridge “will enhance energy security of Czech Republic”.

According to him, in the future STORK will “join new gas lines, which will be located in south-eastern Europe”.

In the future, the Czech Republic will also get access to liquefied natural gas terminals in the Baltic and Adriatic Seas, Necas said.

The Prime Minister of Poland noted that the opening of gas bridge - is “another step in creating a single European energy market”.

Tusk stressed that the gas corridor “North-South” is important for all Europe, as “giving hope that the gas problem will never affect our countries”, cites RIA “Novosti”.

STORK gas pipeline allows to transport gas in both directions.

Now gas is supplied from Czech Republic to Poland.

The total length of the gas bridge is - 32 kilometers, of which - 10 km are on the territory of the Czech Republic, and 22 km on the territory of Poland.

The capacity of gas bridge is 500 million cubic meters of gas per year.
